A retired police officer has been identified as the gunman responsible for the mass shooting at Cook's Corner biker bar in Trabuco Canyon. John Snowling, a former sergeant with the Ventura Police Department, targeted his estranged wife during the shooting that left three people dead and six others wounded. Snowling, who had worked for the department from 1986 to 2014, was killed in a gun battle with deputies. According to witnesses, Snowling specifically targeted his ex-wife, who was a regular at the bar. The motive for the shooting appears to be a domestic dispute. Authorities are still investigating the incident and have not released the identities of the victims. Snowling's ex-wife, Marie Snowling, filed for divorce in December 2022.
