Is Another Mob-Style Robbery Targeting Retailers in Southern California?

A group of 30 to 50 people armed with bear spray recently carried out a mob-style robbery at the Nordstrom store in the Westfield Topanga Mall in Woodland Hills, Los Angeles. The suspects, wearing hoods and masks, swarmed the store, neutralizing security guards with bear spray before making off with thousands of dollars worth of luxury handbags and high-end clothing. The estimated loss is between $60,000 to $100,000. The LAPD is currently investigating the incident and has several leads.

This is not the only incident of its kind in the area. Just days before, a similar mob-style robbery took place at an Yves Saint Laurent store at the Americana at Brand in Glendale. The loss from that robbery was estimated at $300,000.

The brazen nature of these robberies has sparked concern among authorities. Los Angeles Mayor Karen Bass has called the incidents "absolutely unacceptable" and vowed to hold those responsible accountable. The LAPD is working to prevent similar attacks on retailers in the future.

Police are appealing to the public for any information regarding the recent Nordstrom robbery and encourage anonymous tips to be provided to Crime Stoppers.
