Prosecutors say that Orange County Superior Court Judge Jeffrey Ferguson allegedly texted his court clerk and bailiff just minutes after shooting his wife, letting them know that he won't be showing up to work the next day because he'll be behind bars. Ferguson is accused of killing his wife, Sheryl Ferguson, during an argument at their Anaheim Hills home. The court filing reveals that the argument started at a restaurant and continued at their residence. Sheryl Ferguson reportedly made a comment, to which her husband responded by pulling out a pistol from his ankle holster and shooting her in the chest. Their adult son called 911 to report the shooting, claiming that his father had been drinking too much. When police arrived, Ferguson allegedly implicated himself and told officers, "Oh, man I can't believe I did this." Investigators seized a total of 47 weapons, including the pistol used in the shooting, and over 26,000 rounds of ammunition from the couple's home. The judge was released on a $1 million bail and has been charged with murder.
