Russian strikes in the Kherson region of Ukraine have resulted in the deaths of seven people, including a family of four. The attack, which occurred on Sunday morning, targeted homes in the southern region that has already experienced extensive bombardment from Russian forces. Among the victims were a couple, their 23-day-old daughter, and their 12-year-old son. Two men in a neighboring village were also killed in the attack. The regional authorities have declared Monday a day of mourning and issued an urgent call for blood donors. The Kherson region has been under constant shelling since November when Russian forces retreated from the regional capital across the Dnipro River. Russian forces have continued to launch regular and deadly attacks on the city and surrounding areas. Ukrainian forces have been engaged in a counteroffensive to regain Russian-occupied territory in the south, but progress has been slow and casualties have been high. The latest attack has heightened tensions in the region and raised concerns about further escalation of the conflict.
