More than 85,000 highchairs are being recalled in North America due to the risk of falls that have resulted in injuries to children. The recall, announced by the United States Consumer Product Safety Commission, involves TOMY International's Boon Flair and Flair Elite Highchairs. The safety hazard arises from the bolts used to secure the seat to the base, which can become loose and cause the seat to detach from the pedestal base, posing a fall hazard. TOMY has received 34 reports of chair separation, leading to 24 falls and 11 injuries including bruises and scratches. All Boon Flair Elite highchairs and Boon Flair highchairs manufactured before September 2016 are affected by the recall. The Flair Elite model features a white and orange molded plastic seat with a white tray and a metal pedestal base, while the Flair model has a gray plastic base and comes in 10 color combinations. The highchairs were sold at various retailers and online platforms including Bed Bath & Beyond, Target, Toys 'R' Us, Amazon, Walmart, and Bed Bath & Beyond. Consumers are advised to stop using the recalled product and contact TOMY for a free repair kit.
