The incident occurred when a spectator called out to Spieth, who then offered the person half of his peanut butter and banana sandwich. The PGA Tour commissioner shared a video of the exchange, captioning it as "Man of the people."

Spieth had been performing well throughout the tournament, shooting a two-under 68 on Saturday and sitting in contention for the final round. However, the final round of the championship was suspended due to inclement weather in the Memphis area.

If Spieth can overcome the other players on the leaderboard and win the championship, it would be his 14th PGA Tour victory and his first since winning the 2022 RBC Heritage. He came close to winning the tournament in April but lost to Matthew Fitzpatrick in a playoff hole. Spieth has also had six top-10 finishes this season, including a tie for fourth place at the Masters.
