Authorities are intensifying their search for homicide suspect Michael Burham, who escaped from the Warren County Prison in Pennsylvania. Burham, who had been held on a $1 million bond in connection with a kidnapping case, used a homemade rope made out of sheets to slide off the roof of the prison. He was last seen wearing a jail-issued blue denim coat, white and orange pants, and orange shoes.
Law enforcement officials believe Burham is still in the general area of Warren County, and there is no indication that he has left. Given his self-taught survivalist skills and military training, authorities suspect that he may be hiding in a wooded area. As the manhunt continues, the public is urged to keep their residences, vehicles, and outbuildings secured at all times.
To aid in his capture, the U.S. Marshals Service has added a $7,500 reward on top of the $2,000 reward offered by Warren County Crime Stoppers. The Pennsylvania State Police have assumed command of the investigation, and federal agencies are assisting in the search.
Anyone with information regarding Burham's whereabouts is encouraged to contact the Pennsylvania State Police at 814-728-3600. The public is reminded not to approach Burham, as he is considered dangerous.
