Rosalynn Carter was diagnosed with dementia earlier this year, and her husband entered hospice care in February.

Rosalynn Carter has been known as a champion for mental health and caregiving. After leaving the White House, she founded the Rosalynn Carter Institute for Caregivers in 1987.
