Former Dallas Mavericks player and NBA legend, Vince Carter, spoke to The K&C Masterpiece on 105.3 The Fan to discuss Luka Dončić and Jason Kidd. Carter believes that Dončić's ability to take a “mature step forward” both physically and on the court like Joel Embiid did at the age of 25 lies in his willingness to make a commitment to doing so. Dončić had an impressive run this season, averaging 34.2 points, 8.6 rebounds, and 8.0 assists, the only player apart from Michael Jordan to average 32-8-8 in a season. Nonetheless, the Dallas Mavericks did not qualify for the play-in tournament, leading to criticism of Dončić, including concerns about his condition and ability to avoid technical fouls.

Carter commented on Dončić's approach to the season and how it suggested he could make the next step forward. If he is to achieve that, Carter believes the Slovenian star needs to maintain his discipline and approach, particularly as he becomes one of the elite NBA players, as did Carter himself. It's without question that Dončić's performance and success will continue to be a point of interest and scrutiny, with fans eagerly anticipating whether he can emulate Embiid's “mature step forward”.
