The Buffalo Bills' playoff woes continued on Sunday as they fell to the Kansas City Chiefs in a divisional playoff game. Down 27-24 in the final seconds of the game, the Bills had a chance to tie it with a field goal. Fourth-year kicker Tyler Bass, who had made 86.4 percent of his kicks inside that distance on the year, attempted the kick from 44 yards out. Unfortunately for the Bills and their fans, the kick went wide right, mirroring the infamous "wide right" miss in Super Bowl XXV.

This loss marks the third year in a row that the Bills have failed to advance past the divisional round of the playoffs. Under head coach Sean McDermott, the team now has a postseason record of 5-6. The furthest they have advanced in the tournament was the 2020 AFC Championship Game, where they lost to the Chiefs.

Despite the disappointment, McDermott expressed his confidence in Bass and emphasized that the loss should not define the team or their season. With the Bills and the Miami Dolphins both eliminated from the playoffs, the AFC East division does not have a representative in the race for the Vince Lombardi Trophy.

In the AFC Championship Game, the Chiefs will face the Baltimore Ravens, while the San Francisco 49ers will face the Detroit Lions in the NFC Championship Game.
