Is Russia's Wagner Group heading to Belarus?

The Belarusian military has showcased a field camp that could potentially host Russia's Wagner military contractor if it relocates to Belarus. The offer comes under a deal that ended the Wagner Group's mutiny. Maj. Gen. Leonid Kosinsky stated that the former Belarusian military camp near Tsel, about 90 kilometers southeast of Minsk, could accommodate up to 5,000 troops. However, Wagner representatives have not yet inspected the camp to determine if it meets their needs. President Alexander Lukashenko of Belarus suggested that head mercenary Yevgeny Prigozhin is currently in Russia, raising questions about the deal's terms. Lukashenko dismissed concerns that the mercenaries could use Belarusian territory to attack Ukraine, which Russian troops used as a staging ground before invading Ukraine in 2022. The situation surrounding the Wagner Group's potential relocation to Belarus remains murky, and it is unclear how this move would impact President Vladimir Putin's rule.
