Former NFL Player Chris Smith Passes Away at 31

Former NFL player Chris Smith has passed away at the age of 31, according to his high school alma mater, West Rowan High School, though his cause of death has yet to be released. Smith, who spent eight years in the NFL and played for the Jaguars, Bengals, Panthers, Browns, Texans, Raiders, and Ravens, recently played for the Seattle Sea Dragons in the XFL. With a total of 72 games played throughout his career, Smith was drafted by the Jaguars in the fifth round of the 2014 NFL Draft after playing college football at the University of Arkansas. In 2019, Smith's girlfriend Petara Cordero, who had just given birth to their daughter, passed away after a car accident that followed a minor collision with Smith. Smith's daughter has now lost both of her parents before her fourth birthday. The news of Smith's death has led to an outpouring of condolences from teammates and fans alike.
