The team had until Thursday afternoon to activate Brown, as his 21-day practice window was expiring. If he hadn't been activated, he would have had to spend the rest of the season on injured reserve.

The 38-year-old Brown has had a history of injuries during his time with the Jets. Last season, he played through a torn left rotator cuff for most of the year. Despite his injuries, Brown has been recognized for his selflessness on the field and was the first recipient of the team's "Selfless Warrior Award."

The Jets have been dealing with multiple injuries on their offensive line, including a sprained ankle for left tackle Mekhi Becton. Brown's return will provide much-needed stability for the team as they face the Dolphins in the NFL's first game after Thanksgiving.
