Derek Ryan of the Edmonton Oilers might be one of the smartest players in the league. Ryan played a part in the Oilers team's Conference Finals loss in 2022, and while he didn't end the season on a high note, his intelligence on the ice is impressive. Ryan's utility on the ice is outstanding, he can score in all three game states, which means he is an asset to his team. Despite his success and ability on the ice, he continues to improve his game, getting better every day. Ryan is emblematic of Edmonton's potential, and he could be a cornerstone of a successful Oilers team in the coming years.
