The Rooftop Vibes Foundation in Central Texas has created a unique program called Saving 22, which aims to provide veterans with resources to pursue an artistic outlet. Army veteran and award-winning poet Richard "Shake the Poet" White is among the veterans who have benefited from the program. White believes that engaging in art can be a saving grace for veterans, helping them avoid harmful behaviors and release emotions in a healthy way. The foundation's president, Veshell Greene, explains that the name "Saving 22" represents the 22 veterans who commit suicide each day, emphasizing the need for awareness and support. The Rooftop Vibes Foundation has also produced a documentary that sheds light on veterans' struggles with mental health. Through these initiatives, the foundation aims to honor and uplift veterans by providing them with a platform to share their art and stories.
