The World Health Organization (WHO) has expressed deep concern for the safety of patients and health workers still at Al Shifa Hospital in northern Gaza. A spokesperson for the WHO stated that they are working on evacuating the remaining individuals as quickly as possible, but fears for their well-being. Meanwhile, the Gaza Health Ministry has suspended cooperation with the WHO following reports that Israel is detaining medical staff for questioning.

In a separate report, it was revealed that the director of Al Shifa Hospital, Dr. Mohammed Abu Salmiya, was detained by Israeli forces for questioning. The military claims that the hospital served as a command center for Hamas, but both Dr. Salmiya and Hamas deny this allegation. Furthermore, heavy fire has been reported around another hospital in the north, with Israeli troops reportedly ordering its full evacuation.

The situation at Al Shifa Hospital is worsened by the ongoing conflict between Israel and Hamas. The Israeli military launched a campaign in response to a cross-border attack, seeking to destroy Hamas. The Palestinian territory has been heavily affected, with over 14,500 people reported killed and a humanitarian crisis unfolding.
