Dalvin Cook will now team up with Aaron Rodgers in New York

The long-awaited decision is finally here — Dalvin Cook has signed a one-year, $8.6 million deal with the New York Jets. Cook, who spent his entire career with the Minnesota Vikings, will now team up with quarterback Aaron Rodgers in New York.

Cook's contract with the Jets comes after the Vikings released him in June. Despite signing a five-year, $63 million extension with the team in 2020, Cook was let go due to financial reasons. Only $2 million of his salary was guaranteed in 2023, and he would have counted for $14.1 million against the salary cap if he remained on the roster.

The Jets emerged as the front-runners in the pursuit of Cook, who also had interest from his hometown Miami Dolphins. Cook visited the Jets last month and the meeting ultimately led to the one-year agreement.

With the Jets, Cook joins a backfield that includes Breece Hall, who is recovering from an ACL injury. Cook's addition provides the team with a proven playmaker and a boost to their rushing attack. The 28-year-old running back has rushed for 5,993 yards and 47 touchdowns in his career, making the Pro Bowl in each of the past four seasons.

The Jets are hopeful that Cook's arrival, along with their other offseason additions, will help elevate their offense and make them contenders in the AFC East.
