A horrific wreck near the end of the NASCAR Cup Series regular season finale at Daytona International Speedway sent driver Ryan Preece to the hospital. On lap 156 of the race, Preece’s car was turned by Erik Jones, causing it to dart across the track and collect the car of his teammate, Chase Briscoe. Preece's car then slid onto the grass, became airborne, and flipped nearly a dozen times before coming to a violent stop on its wheels.

Safety crews quickly arrived at the scene and spent several minutes assisting Preece. Eventually, he emerged from the car and stood alongside it before being helped onto a stretcher. Preece was taken by ambulance to the infield care center and later transported to Halifax Medical Center for further evaluation.

The wreck resulted in a two-lap overtime, and Chris Buescher went on to claim the win. Preece's injuries dashed his hopes of qualifying for the playoffs. Despite a difficult season at Stewart-Haas Racing, Preece has a strong track record at Daytona and had high hopes for the race. Stay tuned for updates on his condition.
