Is RJ Barrett on Track to Become the First New York Knick to Score 5,000 Points Before Turning 25?

Former Duke basketball guard RJ Barrett is inching closer to a historic milestone with the New York Knicks. No player in Knicks history has scored 5,000 points before the age of 25, but Barrett is sitting just 16 points away from reaching that mark.

Since being drafted third overall in the 2019 NBA Draft after his one-and-done season with Duke, Barrett has already scored an impressive 4,984 points in the regular season. At just 23 years old, he still has over 200 days before his next birthday, giving him plenty of time to add those final 16 points to his total.

In the current season, Barrett is averaging a career-high 21.0 points per game, shooting 42.9% from beyond the arc. His overall shooting percentage of 45.3% and free throw percentage of 81.0% are also at career-high levels.

Despite missing the Knicks' recent game due to knee soreness, Barrett is known for his durability and is expected to return to the court soon. The Knicks' next game against the Milwaukee Bucks will determine if Barrett can reach the historic milestone before turning 25.

If Barrett achieves this feat, he will go down in Knicks history as the first player to score 5,000 points before the age of 25.
