Four Las Vegas Teens Charged as Adults in Fatal Beating of Classmate

Four high school students in Las Vegas have been charged as adults for the murder of their classmate, Jonathan Lewis Jr. The 17-year-old Lewis was brutally beaten to death in an alleyway after school on November 1st. The incident was captured on video and shared on social media, sparking outrage and concern within the community.

The four teens, aged 16 and 17, have been charged with second-degree murder and conspiracy to commit battery. Prosecutors and defense attorneys have agreed to return the suspects to juvenile custody, but the case will proceed in the adult system.

The Clark County District Attorney's office also announced that another suspect has been arrested in connection to the fatal beating, leaving only one suspect still at large. Eight teens had previously been taken into custody, and this new arrest brings the total number to nine.

The attack allegedly stemmed from a dispute over stolen items, including a pair of wireless headphones and a vape pen. Lewis was found unconscious and bleeding from the head in the alleyway. He was taken off life support on November 7th, and his organs were donated.

A hearing will be held later this month to determine if the remaining teens in custody will also be tried as adults. Meanwhile, the community mourns the loss of a young life and grapples with the tragic consequences of violence among teenagers.
