Flash Flood Watch Issued for Central Pennsylvania Sunday Afternoon

A flash flood watch has been issued for several parts of central Pennsylvania on Sunday afternoon. The National Weather Service warns that excessive rainfall could cause flash flooding at creeks, streams, and areas with poor drainage. The watch will be in effect from noon to 10 p.m. on Sunday. Residents in Adams, Columbia, Cumberland, Dauphin, Franklin, Juniata, Lancaster, Lebanon, Montour, Northern Lycoming, Northumberland, Perry, Schuylkill, Snyder, Southern Lycoming, Sullivan, Tioga, Union, and York counties should monitor forecasts and be prepared to take action in the event of flash flooding in their area. This warning comes as heavy rain and thunderstorms are expected to hit the region. A separate flash flood warning is also in effect for Northwestern Hunterdon, Southwestern Warren, East Central Lehigh, Southern Northampton, and North Central Bucks counties until 7 p.m. Sunday. The warning includes flood warnings covering Allentown, Easton, Bethlehem, Forks Township, Northampton, Wilson, Hellertown, Nazareth, Bath, Harmony Township, and Alpha. A flood watch also continues through midnight in the region.
