The mayors of Tuscaloosa and Auburn, Alabama, have once again made a friendly wager on the outcome of the upcoming Iron Bowl football game. Tuscaloosa Mayor Walt Maddox and Auburn Mayor Ron Anders have agreed to stake donations to local charities based on the game's outcome. If the University of Alabama wins, Anders will donate $100 to the Tuscaloosa Pre-K Initiative. On the other hand, if Auburn wins, Maddox will donate $100 to the Exceptional Foundation of East Alabama. The annual tradition, which has been ongoing since 2005, benefits important causes in both cities. The Tuscaloosa Pre-K Initiative aims to provide pre-kindergarten education to at-risk 4-year-olds, while the Exceptional Foundation of East Alabama serves people with intellectual and developmental disabilities. The wager not only adds excitement to the Iron Bowl but also brings recognition to these worthy causes. Since the tradition began, Alabama has won the Iron Bowl 11 times and Auburn has won seven times. Regardless of the outcome, both mayors agree that the wager makes the Iron Bowl a win-win for Tuscaloosa and Auburn.
